Devcon Journey Recap
The Bangkok Devcon journey has been nothing short of extraordinary! We're thrilled to share highlights from the Calimero team's vibrant participation across multiple events, including [REDACTED], @AggLayer, @EFDevcon, Show and Tell - App Edition, Pragma, and BuilderHaus2—the side event we proudly co-hosted with @zkPass and @SojuDAO_. It's been an incredible week of innovation, collaboration, and showcasing the future of data privacy and ownership.
Redacted
The conference hosted by @NEARProtocol was an absolute delight to attend!
The Calimero CTO Xabier Losada(@xilosada) executed a talk on topic "From Apps to dApps to SSApps", where he dived into how applications have been evolving, and what the Calimero ecosystem offers to the developers.
Next on the stage was the Calimero DevRel Matej Vukosav who moderated the panel on topic "The Future of Self-Sovereignty: AI Agents, DAOs, and the User-Owned Internet", where Sasha Baksht(@SashaBaksht) the founder of @LearnNear and Nneoma Kanu(@nneomack) the Technical Governance Specialist at @StableLab dived into the evolution of governance, DAOs, and the shift towards user-owned, self-sovereign applications.
The Calimero team sparkled the conference with fun booth activities, where the attendees could meet and connect with the Calimero team, participate in privacy quiz, and get their hands on the new line of Calimero merch. For the Calimero team, this presented another opportunity to network with projects from the space such as @auroraisnear, @dragonisnear, @MeteorWallet , @meta_pool, Dopplegangers AI, and catch up with the incredible team behind NEAR Protocol.
Another highlight of the conference was the Redacted Hackathon, where Calimero had a data privacy bounty track. This was a virtual hackathon, that ended on the last day of Redacted, and the winners were announced live!
Nexus - community-trained and owned AI agents on NEAR and Calimero took home the first prize. They created a system that combines privacy-preserving decentralized machine learning with autonomous AI agents using NEAR smart contracts and Calimero's applications. It allows crypto traders to collaboratively train machine learning models on their private trading data in a secure way (data never leaves their system) and provide the output of that model to an AI agent for it to reason and take trading actions. Check out Nexus.
Icebreak - a messaging app that allows senders to attach a reward for replying. The sender, upon receiving the conversation link, can choose to answer the sender and thus collect his reward. What the Icebreak team enabled is a truly private messaging solution that connects wallets to one another, while also having the reward functionality. Check out Icebreak.
Aggregation Summit
A conference hosted by @0xPolygon focused on solving the fragmentation with chain abstraction, a truly aggregated experience. Calimero was one of the liquidity sponsors behind @AggLayer alongside @EspressoSys, @DapDapMeUp, @AvailProject, @okto_web3, @chainlink, and @ElectronZK.
The Calimero CTO Xabier Losada opened the conference with his talk on topic "From Apps, to dApps, to SSApps", where he dived into the evolution of the digital space and the reason why Calimero was created at first place, as well as the benefits for the builders.
Calimero had a booth in the expo area where they enaged with the community and other founders from the Web3 space. Some notable projects we connected are: @AvailProject, @DapDapMeUp, @0xPolygonLabs, @Portalcoin, @ChainPatrol, and @EspressoSys. The vibe around the venue was vibrant with delicious food, insightful talks, and very relaxing Thai massages.
Some highlights at the conference were the talks by @ox_shaman from @Biconomy on topic "Achieving Chain Abstraction though Transaction Orchestration", and @bitfalls from @0xPolygon on topic "Lessons from Polkadot Governance".
Devcon
Devcon truly stood out as the main event of the Bangkok jounrey-a four-day immersion into insightful discussions and talks. The Calimero team had the privilege of connecting with industry leaders like @eigenlayer, @Dune, @farcaster_xyz, and many more, forging meaningful relationships that are shaping the future of Web3.
We also caught up with our frens from @daedalus_angels, @theRZLT, @ethbelgrade, @Locastic, @blankhq_co, @0x_moonstrack, and so many others. Devcon proved to be a powerful reminder of the strength and camaraderie within the Web3 community.
Frogs Take Over Devcon! One of the most exciting highlights was the Frog Store-a gamified experience that brought attendees together in a unique and engaging way. Participants earned frog points by interacting, exploring the vast conference venue, and discovering new locations. The points could be redeemed for exclusive merch at the Frog Store, creating an atmosphere of fun, collaboration, and exploration throughout the event.
Show and Tell - App Edition
Not just another Devcon side event celebrating narratives. This event hosted by the team of @biconomy was a very curated experience of one quality panel, and 8 application features.
The event opened with a panel on topic "How far away are we from Making Apps Great Again?", where the speakers: David Phelps(@divine_economy) - Founder of @jokerace_io, Austin Marrazza(@gmEthereum) - Junior Partner at @dragonfly_xyz, Carra Wu(@carrawu) from @a16z, touched upon the curent state of the applications in the space, the focus of the investors and provided some takes on where we are headed in the future.
The panel was followed up by incredible application showcases such as @Biconomy, @play_ember, Biomes, @RugRumble, MBD, @dripit_io , and @AmbireWallet.
Pragma
Another great side event along the Devcon journey, was Pragma Bangkok hosted by the team of @ETHGlobal. A day filled with discussions on incredible topics such as the one of @JessePollak on topic "Building Networks that People Actually Use", vibrant energy around the venue, and delightful food.
On Pragma, the team of Calimero also had the opportunity to meet the teams of @flow_blockchain and @worldcoin and discover more about their work and development of their projects.
