Build on Calimero. Write the logic.

Write your app logic in Rust, bundle it with its frontend into one signed package, and run it on Calimero Cloud or your own node.

#[app::state]
pub struct KvStore {
    items: UnorderedMap<String, LwwRegister<String>>,
}

#[app::logic]
impl KvStore {
    pub fn set(&mut self, key: String, value: String) -> app::Result<()> {
        self.items.insert(key, value.into())?;
        Ok(())
    }
}

State syncs between nodes on its own. No server code.

  • 5commands from an empty folder to a running app
  • 1signed package: logic and frontend together
  • 9open-source tools and SDKs
  • 4client SDKs: JavaScript, Swift, Kotlin, Python

01 · Quickstart

Five commands to a running app.

Create an app, bundle and sign it, start a local node, and install the bundle. Building and signing the bundle is one step; running it on a node takes a few more.

cargo mero new my-app && cd my-app
cargo mero bundle --dev --no-icon
merod --node node1 init --server-port 2428 --swarm-port 2528
merod --node node1 run
meroctl --node node1 app install --path ./dist/com.example.my-app-0.1.0.mpk

02 · Tools and SDKs

Everything you need, one install away.

The node, the command-line tools, the app SDK and the clients. Each is open source.

Node & CLI

Run and operate nodes.

  • merod

    Run a Calimero node.

    brew install merod
  • meroctl

    Control your node from the terminal.

    brew install meroctl
  • merobox

    Spin up local multi-node environments.

    pipx install merobox
Client SDKs JavaScriptSwiftKotlinPython

App SDK

Write the app.

Clients

Talk to a node from your code.

  • calimero-client

    Rust client for node APIs.

    cargo add calimero-client
  • calimero-client-py

    Python client for node APIs.

    pip install calimero-client-py
  • mero-js

    JavaScript SDK for frontends.

    npm install @calimero-network/mero-js

Scaffolding

Start and generate.

  • create-mero-app

    Bootstrap a new app.

    npx create-mero-app
  • abi-codegen

    Generate typed frontend clients from an app's ABI.

    npm install @calimero-network/abi-codegen

03 · Calimero MCP

Let any agent drive your apps.

Any agent, local, deployed or from a frontier lab, gets its own key for your node, so the Calimero MCP can drive your installed apps under each app's rules. Coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex CLI included.

  • Its own key, separate from yours, revocable any time.
  • The app's rules apply to the agent like any other member.
  • Set up from Calimero Desktop: Settings · AI agent.

04 · Docs and open source

The runtime is open source.

The node, the SDK and the protocol are on GitHub, with a full protocol reference you could reimplement a node from. The docs come in four tracks.
